WALTERS HEADLINES KNIGHTHAWKS YOUTH LACROSSE CAMP
06/21/2013 - 2:19pm

(June 21, 2013)… Rochester Knighthawks star and back-to-back NLL Champion Joe Walters will headline the team’s Boys Lacrosse Camps next week in Rochester. Kids can learn the game from the Knighthawks veteran, as well as professional players MJ Kiekebelt and Mike Manley.

The camp will be held at McQuaid Jesuit High School from Monday, June 24th to Thursday, June 27th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The full-day camp is open to players ages 7-15. The Knighthawks, in conjunction with Rochester Youth Camps, are also offering a half-day camp for children ages 6-8 that runs from 9:00 a.m. to noon over the same four-day stretch.

Walters will join camp instructor Andrew Whipple, who is a former NLL and Major League Lacrosse player and the current head lacrosse coach at Pittsford High School. Walters will attend camp Wednesday and Thursday, while Kiekebelt (RIT/Hamilton Nationals) will kick off the week by working Monday and Tuesday. Penn Yan native Mike Manley of the Philadelphia Wings/Rochester Rattlers will serve as an instructor Tuesday and Wednesday.

The camps will place a heavy focus on skill development through passing, shooting and ball-handling, in addition to conditioning and team-building exercises. Every day ends with a scrimmage so players can use the fundamentals they learned in game situations.

The next Knighthawks Camp is set for Monday, July 15th to Thursday, July 18th at Victor Dryer Road Park. The summer will end with the Lady Knighthawks Camp, which is scheduled for Monday, July 29th through Thursday, August 1st at McQuaid Jesuit High School.

Rochester Youth Camps offers families discounts for returning campers and have multi-sibling, group and goalie rates. Please visit www.RochesterYouthCamps.com for information and pricing or contact Jason Cipolla at (585) 739-1612.

Season tickets are currently on sale at the Knighthawks Office and can be purchased by calling (585) 454-HAWK (4295).
