VOTE FOR PLAY OF THE YEAR
06/18/2013 - 3:57pm

(June 18, 2013)...Throughout the season, fans have been asked to vote for their favorite play from each weekend for the Rochester Knighthawks' Play of the Week. Now, the 16 winners from each week of the 2013 championship season are going head-to-head for the right to be named the Knighthawks' Play of the Year. The Play of the Week winners have been divided into four regions - Defense, Behind-the-Back Goals, Crafty Helpers and Playmakers. It will be up to the voters to decide with plays advance from the round of 16 and attempt to earn the title as the top play from 2013.

The first matchup in the opening round comes from the Defensive Region between two stellar saves from Matt Vinc, the National Lacrosse League's 2013 Goaltender of the Year. His first Play of the Year moment comes from the Knighthawks' Week 5 contest against the Washington Stealth. "Vno" stood tall in the net as Rochester grinded out a tough 7-6 victory. Vinc made this outstanding save against Athan Iannucci, diving to his right to deny the former league MVP.

Ironically, Vinc's second play also came against the Stealth, but this time in the Champion's Cup. With an 11-10 lead, he made two key saves to prevent Washington from forcing the tilt into overtime. With about 20 seconds remaining in regulation, Vinc deflected this low shot from Rhys Duch with his left leg.

Watch both saves closely and vote for the play you would like to see advance to the Elite 8 in the Knighthawks' 2013 Play of the Year Tournament. One fan who votes for the winning play will be selected to receive a free Knighthawks prize.  Check back to Knighthawks.com on Friday, June 21st when the winning play from this match-up will be revealed.

Voting for this match-up is now over.
