KNIGHTHAWKS IN ACTION THIS WEEKEND

(June 14, 2013)… The Rochester Knighthawks are back in action this weekend, as 15 players from the 2013 National Lacrosse League Championship team will play in two significant Major Series Lacrosse games.

On Saturday, the top two teams in the MSL will square off as the Six Nations Chiefs host the Brooklin Redmen at 7:00 p.m. The battle of the 5-1 teams features eight players from the Knighthawks. The Chiefs’ roster is packed with Rochester players with the likes of Craig Point, Cody Jamieson, Sid Smith, Stephen Keogh, Ian Llord, Angus Goodleaf and Jon Sullivan. Scott Campbell is the lone Knighthawk on the Redmen roster.

Point leads the Chiefs with 28 points (9+19), which is good for fifth in Major Series Lacrosse. Jamieson is tied for fourth on the team with 19 points, while Keogh has notched five points (2+3) in four games. The Chiefs only loss of the season was to Brooklin, 10-9, back on May 29th. 

On Sunday, the defending Mann Cup Champion Peterborough Lakers (5-3) will travel to take on the Brampton Excelsiors (2-5) at 7:00 p.m. The Lakers are led by Knighthawk Cory Vitarelli, who is tied for seventh in the league with 25 points (10+15). Peterborough’s lineup also includes Brad and Scott Self, and Jimmy Purves. Brad Self has continued to put up big numbers on offense, as the transition man has 15 points (2+13) in eight games. Scott Self has collected four assists in eight games, while Purves has appeared in one game this summer.

The Excelsiors are led by Knighthawks Dan Dawson, Paul Dawson and Mike Kirk. Dan Dawson ranks third on the team with 17 points (4+13) in just four games. Brampton (2-5) enters the contest after defeating the Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks 12-10 Thursday night behind a four-point game from Dan Dawson.
