RELIVE THE CUP RAISING
05/16/2013 - 12:00pm

(May 16, 2013)... The Rochester Knighthawks raised the Champion's Cup for the second straight season, following an 11-10 victory over the Washington Stealth on May 11th in Langley, BC. The title was the fourth in the team's 19-year history and third since 2007. Rochester is now tied for third for the most National Lacrosse League titles.

“It was worth the ticket,” said Rochester Head Coach Mike Hasen. “It was a great game back and forth; offensive in the first half, defensive in the second half. It’s great to be a part of.”

The Knighthawks were led by back-to-back NLL Championship Game MVP Cody Jamieson (3+3) and Joe Walters (1+5),  who netted the game-winning goal early in the fourth quarter. Matt Vinc made 39 saves, which included a stop on Rhys Duch with three seconds to play.

It was the first Cup for Knighthawks players Dan and Paul Dawson, Scott Self, Joel McCready, Jimmy Purves, Angus Goodleaf, Jon Sullivan, Matt Hummel and Cody McLeod.

In 2014, Rochester begins its quest to become the first team in NLL history to win three straight championships.
