CHAMPION'S CUP PLAY OF THE WEEK
05/14/2013 - 12:42pm

(May 14, 2013)... Every week this season, we will take a look back at the Top 5 Plays from the Rochester Knighthawks' weekend action. Fans can vote for their favorite plays from each week and at the end of the season chose the ultimate highlight from 2013.

Last week’s Play of the Week, as chosen by the fans, was the Dan Dawson’s behind-the-back dish to Craig Point. Dawson swam over one double team and then passed the ball to Point on the crease. He finished the play with a goal in the top corner of the net over Minnesota’s Tyler Carlson. WATCH POINT SCORE OFF DAWSON HELPER

Here are the Top 5 Plays from the Knighthawks' 11-10 Champion’s Cup victory over the Washington Stealth on Saturday, May 11th. Vote for your favorite highlight from the NLL Championship Game and see if it makes the cut as the top play from 2013.

Cody Jamieson became just the second player in NLL history to win back-to-back Championship MVP Awards, joining the great John Tavares. Jamieson completed the first-half hat trick on this play. He bulled his way to the point through Washington defenseman Billy Hostrawser and then fired the ball past Matt Beers and goalie Tyler Richards.

Brad Self scored his first playoff goal as a Knighthawk to help lift Rochester over Washington. Defenseman Tyler Burton gathered the loose ball in the defensive zone and found Self streaking down the floor. Self beat Richards over the netminder's left shoulder for the goal.

Cory Vitarelli scored the first of Rochester's three unanswered goals to end the first half. Jamieson deked his way to the net, but his shot went wide off the boards and directly to Vitarelli, who put the ball in the back of the net with a little "Air Dogger" dive.

Rochester native Joe Walters scored the only goal of the second half, but it was all the Knighthawks would need to be victorious. Walters worked his way underneath Stealth defenseman Chris O'Dougherty and dove across the front of the crease for the game-winner.

Matt Vinc made two key saves in the final minute of regulation to preserve the lead, preventing the Stealth from forcing overtime. Both saves were against Rhys Duch, who has earned the nickname "Clutch" for his ability to score key goals late in the game. Watch closely as "Vno" just gets his left leg in front of the ball with about 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
