He was the Rochester Knighthawks’ first-round selection (fifth overall) in the 2011 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft... The pick was acquired from Calgary in a draft day trade that sent Shawn Evans and a first rounder in the 2012 draft to the Roughnecks.


Career


He enters his first season in the NLL... Powless has had an incredible two-year run in junior lacrosse, amassing 111 goals and 69 assists for 180 points in just 43 games… This summer, he won the Gaylord Powless Award as the Junior “A” Most Sportsmanlike Player and was named a Second Team All-Star… Powless led the lacrosse league in scoring with 65 goals and was fourth with 102 points... He was tied for fourth in playoff goals (22) and was fifth in points (45)… Last year, the forward from Six Nations won the Joe Nieuwendyk Award as the 2010 Junior "A" Rookie of the Year... In 2009, he played in 13 games with the Six Nations Jr. "B" Rebels, scoring three goals while adding eight assists, as he split his time with the Six Nations Midgets, Midget Iroquois Nationals and the Rebels.
