KNIGHTHAWKS FACE TOUGH DIVISIONAL TEST THIS WEEK
02/07/2013 - 1:18pm

(February 7, 2013)… The Rochester Knighthawks continue their three-game in eight-day stretch this week. Rochester (1-3) visits Philadelphia for an 11:00 a.m. game on Friday, February 8th and ends the road trip with a 7:30 p.m. contest in Buffalo against the Bandits the following night. Both games will be broadcast on Sportsradio 950 ESPN and online at www.sportsradio950espn.com. The games will be also carried live on YouTube via The Lacrosse Network.

Head-to-Head: Rochester has won the last nine regular season meetings against the Philadelphia Wings, recording three wins last season. Rochester also knocked off the Wings in the 2012 NLL Playoffs. The Knighthawks lead the all-time series with a 26-19 record.

Trading Places: The game is the first between the two teams since the December 14th blockbuster trade. The Knighthawks acquired Dan and Paul Dawson and a first round pick in 2016 from the Wings in exchange for Paul Rabil, Jordan Hall, Joel White, Robbie Campbell and a 2014 second round pick.

Knighthawks Notes: In the Knighthawks’ win over Washington on Saturday, Cody Jamieson led the way with two goals, while Cory Vitarelli netted one goal and added two assists. Jamieson has now recorded a point in all 36 regular season games he has played with the Knighthawks. The duo leads the team with seven goals each. Johnny Powless netted the game-winning goal for the Knighthawks. He has now scored at least one goal in a team-best nine consecutive games. Rochester’s seven goals scored set a new franchise record for fewest goals scored in a win. The previous record was in an 8-7 win over the Stealth in San Jose on April 8, 2005. The evening was monumental, as Matt Vinc surpassed two career milestones. He has now played over 5,500 minutes and made over 3,500 saves. Against Washington, he made 42 saves on 48 shots for a .875 save percentage. He earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season after his stellar performance against Washington.

These Knighthawks are nearing career milestones:
• Matt Vinc is one win shy of 50;
• Brad Self is one goal away from 50;
• Craig Point is one point away from 150 as a Knighthawk;
• Casey Powell is three assists shy of 350;
• Dan Dawson is three goals away from 350.

Player Moves: The Knighthawks have released transition man Garett Ince. In a related move, Rochester signed Alex “Kedoh” Hill to a practice squad contract.

Way to go ‘Kedoh’: Alex “Kedoh” Hill (Iroquois Ironmen) was named the CLax Transition Player of the Week after scoring four goals in Sunday’s game against the Durham TurfDogs.

Wings Notes: Philadelphia enters the game in third place in the East Division with a 2-2 record. The Wings have dropped their last two games after opening the season with back-to-wins over Buffalo and Toronto. Philadelphia then dropped games to Buffalo and Calgary before heading into a bye weekend. The Wings are led by second-year pro Kevin Crowley, who has a team-best nine goals and 19 points. Kevin Buchanan (17) and Hall (16) are second and third on the team in points, respectively. In goal, veteran Brandon Miller is second in the NLL in goals-against average (10.06) and tied for fourth in saves (157).

Next Game: On Friday, February 9th, Rochester makes its first of two trips to Buffalo this season. The Knighthawks will battle the Bandits at 7:30 p.m. at the First Niagara Center.
