
(January 13, 2013)… When Rochester Knighthawks star Joe Walters sits down with Brother Wease Monday morning, it will kick off a five-day community blitz for the defending champion Knighthawks.
At 10:00 a.m., Walters will talk Knighthawks lacrosse on 95.1 FM and www.951thebrew.com. Rochester will battle the I-90 rival Buffalo Bandits in their home opener on Saturday, January 19th at 7:30 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The Knighthawks will raise their championship banner before the game. Fans can catch the game on Sportsradio 950 ESPN and online at www.sportsradio950espn.com. The game will also be televised live on the Time Warner Cable Sports Channel.
Monday afternoon, Walters and Tyler Burton will carry the team’s anti-bullying message to Henrietta at 2:30 p.m. The players will share their stories of bullying with over 300 sixth and seventh graders at Burger Middle School as part of the Knighthawks’ “We Got Your Back” anti-bullying program.
The following day, Walters and Burton will visit the John Di Tullio Show at 3:30 p.m. on 1280 WHTK & FM 107.3 Rochester's Sports Talk, and www.whtk.com.
The radio tour continues Thursday at 8:30 a.m. with Knighthawks Joe Walters and Dan Dawson going in-studio with Terry, Steve and Newman on The BEE Morning Coffee Club Show on 92.5 FM WBEE and www.wbee.com.
Last year’s co-community service award winner, Joe Walters, will partake in his fifth appearance of the week when he heads to Dudley Elementary School in Fairport on Thursday, January 17th. Walters will read books from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. to kids from kindergarten to second grade for Fairport’s Reading Week.
Thursday evening, Dan Dawson and Walters will be in-studio guests on the Bob Matthews Show at 6:35 p.m. on WHAM 1180-AM and www.wham1180.com. Dawson made his Rochester debut on January 5th and collected four assists. He was acquired in the offseason in a six player, two draft pick deal with the Philadelphia Wings. In the Knighthawks’ 2013 opener, Walters also recorded four points on two goals and two assists.
