VOTE FOR YOUR PLAY OF THE WEEK
01/07/2013 - 12:28pm

Every week this season, we will take a look back at the Top 5 Plays from the Rochester Knighthawks’ weekend action. Fans can vote for their favorite plays from each week and at the end of the season choose the ultimate highlight from the 2013. Here are the Top 5 Plays from the National Lacrosse League’s 2013 season opener versus the Washington Stealth on Jan. 5.

Vote for you favorite highlight of Week 1 in the NLL and see if it makes the cut as the top play from 2013 - CLICK HERE TO VOTE.

The first candidate from Week 1 of the 2013 season is a goal from Rochester native Joe Walters, who snipes the top right corner of the net from distance.

The next highlight features defenseman Scott Campbell. Down a man on the Washington power play, Campbell intercepts a pass and takes it the distance on the shorthanded breakaway.

Everybody loves a behind-the-back pass. Why not two in the same play? Cody Jamieson finds Johnny Powless, who then hits Cory Vitarelli on the crease for the goal.

Washington goaltender Tyler Richards thought he denied Stephen Keogh of this goal, but the ball trickles past the netminder and barely crosses the white line to give the Knighthawks a two-goal lead in the fourth quarter.

Johnny Powless has made of habit of finding himself in the middle of highlight-reel scoring plays in his young career. The final highlight from the season opener is yet another example of the teenage sensation’s sticks skills.
