OPEN TRYOUTS OCTOBER 26-27
09/04/2012 - 10:24pm

Tyler Burton and Jamie Batson are just two of the lacrosse players that used the Rochester Knighthawks Open Tryouts to launch their professional lacrosse careers. The defensemen went from undrafted free agents to members of the 2012 World Champion Rochester Knighthawks.

The Knighthawks will hold open tryouts for the 2013 NLL season on Friday, October 26th and Saturday, October 27th at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Hagersville, Ontario. Batson was the latest athlete to crack the Rochester lineup after attending the Open Tryouts.

Attend NLL Combine

“It was awesome and I was really pumped about it,” said Batson. “I didn’t think anything like that was even possible.”

The next crop of Knighthawk hopefuls can attend the 2012 Open Tryouts, which begins on Friday, October 26th from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. A morning workout from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. will follow on Saturday, October 27th. All interested candidates attending the tryouts must submit all necessary information and be fully registered by the end of the day on Monday, October 15th in order to participate.

Burton also took a chance and attended the team’s 2011 tryouts. In the past two seasons, he has played in 28 of the team’s 32 regular season games.

“I looked at the roster and the defense and they were stacked. I had really nothing to lose. I thought I would go out and work my butt off and see what happened,” said Burton.

To be eligible for the 2012 Open Tryouts, players are required to submit their lacrosse resume, applicable references and current photo. All athletes are also responsible for funding any and all expenses associated with the tryout and the team can provide contacts for any necessary accommodations.

Athletes are required to provide their own equipment and are strongly encouraged to attend both practices. Attendees should be prepared to complete a fitness testing and workout regime, including body fat and Body Mass Index measurements. Upon arrival, players are required to sign an NLL Participation Waiver and advise team officials of any past injuries or pre-existing medical conditions. Those who require the assistance of medication of any kind of medical device are advised to bring them to the tryout with you. Lastly, all athletes must have proper and authorized government-issued documentation to satisfy custom requirements for travel purposes.
