(Rochester, December 11)... Members of the Rochester Americans and Knighthawks will trade in their sticks for bells on Monday, December 14th, as they raise money for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign. The goal: To break the $500 mark in two hours.
"The Salvation Army is an organization that provides support to many people in need," said Amerks/Knighthawks President Lewis Staats. "Christmas time is one of those special times of the year when their support is needed and appreciated the most and our entire organization is happy to support the bell ringing campaign."
The Amerks Luke Beaverson, Peter Aston, Michael Caruso, Evgeny Dadonov and Brady Calla will join the Knighthawks Joe Walters, the front office staff, dance team members and fans from noon to 2:00 p.m. at the four corners in downtown Rochester (intersection of Main and Exchange streets). The Amerks Moose and the Eagle, R. Thunder, will also participate. The event marks the 10th time in 11 years that the Amerks and Knighthawks have participated in the Red Kettle Campaign.
"We are extremely grateful for the awareness the Amerks and Knighthawks bring to our Red Kettle Campaign. Each year we look forward to partnering with them because they add a special touch of fun and excitement to the
Christmas scene in downtown Rochester," said Major John Hodgson, area coordinator for The Salvation Army in Rochester.
The Amerks host the Syracuse Crunch on Tuesday, December 15th at 7:05 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. Game time remains the same at 7:05 p.m. The 7:05 p.m. contest will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK and FM 107.3, Rochester’s Sports Talk. The game will also be televised live on Time Warner Cable SportsNet Channel 26.
