Thank you for your interest in auditioning for the Rochester Knightingales and Venom Professional Dance Teams!!!
The 2008 Venom Dance Team has been selected. Here is some information you will need to know to prepare for Knightingales auditions this fall.
The Knightingales are fun, outgoing, professional woman who represent healthy goals and superior entertainment. In addition to performing at the NLL Rochester Knighthawks home lacrosse games the team will support community projects throughout Greater Rochester. The Knightingales will perform at many exciting events and make numerous appearances including modeling, public speaking, event entertainment and support throughout Monroe County. Members of the Knightingales are also representatives of the Rochester Razorsharks and Rochester Rattlers Venom.
We are looking for dedicated women who are physically fit, talented in dance/cheer or promotional modeling and are able to present themselves in a professional manner. Because the Knightingales are influential role models to the youth in our communities, we select women that are committed to leading a healthy productive lifestyle.
Auditions will allow our staff to get to know the applicants' personalities, to help those without experience and to give those who have experience the opportunity to show their skills. Those who have a background in dance/cheer will not have an advantage. The Directors are looking to fill a variety of positions and look for personality, willingness to learn and physical appearance as well as ability.

REQUIRMENTS
- Must be 18 years of age by first date of tryouts.
- You must be a full-time college student, full-time employee or full-time mom
- Must commit to all audition dates unless otherwise approved by Directors.
- Must commit to all Regular Season Practices, Tuesdays & Thursdays, 7:30pm-9:30pm, World Gym on East Avenue
- Through playoffs and championship games
- Must commit to all Rochester Knighthawks Home games, game day practices, playoff and championship games
- Season: October through May
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do current team members have to re-audition?
Yes, all members must go through the audition process each season and are not guaranteed their place on the team. This is based on attendance, attitude and dedication from the previous season.
Do current captains and co-captain team members have to re-audition?
The Directors select team captains and co-captains. This is based on dedication, willingness to learn, attitude, attendance and leadership qualities.
What positions are you looking for?
The Directors are looking for a variety of positions to make up the entertainment team. This may include Game Sales girls, Promotional Models, Cheerleaders and Dancers. Each will tryout based on different requirements. Their commitment, duties and uniform may be different.
What can I do to prepare for auditions?
All team members need to be in top physical condition. Eat right, work out and lead a healthy productive lifestyle. Dance: call your local dance studio and ask about technique and choreography classes. Work on stretching, kicks, turns, leaps, and choreography. The more you practice the easier it is to pick up choreography and feel comfortable performing.
Do I have to live in Rochester in order to audition?
No, during past seasons team members have traveled from outside the Greater Rochester Area, Syracuse and Buffalo. We are looking for dedicated woman. You must be able to travel to and from practices as well as all home games.
Are there any height or weight requirements?
No, but you should be in top physical condition and proportioned for your height.
Do the team members travel to any away games?
At this time we do not attend away games, but are expected to perform at all home games as well as any additional home pre-season or playoff games. Should the Lacrosse team play in the playoffs or Championship game, the squad may make the trip on their own.
Do the team members get paid?
No, unfortunately we currently do not have the funds or support to get paid at this time. You do not get compensated for photo shoots, calendar shoots or community service appearances. We have arranged many perks including a free gym membership and tanning and there are opportunities for paid appearances, which will be based on availability. During the 2008 season some Knightingales received over $400 for paid appearances.
Who are the Directors?
The Knighthawks have selected women based on their ability to promote lacrosse and add to game day, making each game an exciting event. This year Betsy Verna, Wendy Grassel and Corina Abadi will run different aspects of the Knightingales.
